Getting Married in a Vineyard: Wedding Venue Trends for 2027

Something has changed in the way couples choose to get married. More and more couples planning their wedding in 2027 are moving away from traditional ballrooms and impersonal venues — choosing instead a setting that already has a story. A place that doesn’t need to be transformed to feel special.

Vineyards are at the heart of this shift.

Why are vineyard weddings one of the biggest trends for 2027?

Wedding specialists across Europe consistently point to the same direction: couples — especially those planning destination weddings — are prioritising authenticity over convention.

A vineyard doesn’t need to be decorated to feel meaningful. It already has atmosphere, texture, and a sense of place. The rows of old vines, the open sky, the connection to the land — these are things no staging can replicate.

In 2027, the most sought-after wedding venues share one quality: they feel real.

This is precisely why wineries, rural estates, and vineyard properties are being booked earlier than ever. The demand is real, and the dates are limited.

What are the main wedding venue trends for 2027?

Research from wedding planners and destination specialists across Europe points to a clear set of priorities shaping how couples are celebrating in 2027:

  • 1. Intimate guest lists over large events

The era of 200-person weddings is giving way to something more intentional. The most requested celebrations of 2027 involve 40 to 80 guests — people who genuinely matter, not people who need to be invited. Intimacy is now a feature, not a compromise.

  • 2. Multi-day experiences

One day is no longer enough. Couples are designing full weekends: a welcome dinner on Friday, the ceremony and celebration on Saturday, a relaxed brunch on Sunday morning. The wedding becomes a shared journey — not just a shared afternoon.

  • 3. The slow wedding philosophy

Less protocol, more presence. Couples in 2027 are building their day around meaningful moments — a long dinner table, an unhurried cocktail hour, evenings that don’t feel rushed. The agenda is designed around flow, not obligation.

  • 4. Venues with their own culinary identity

Food is no longer a footnote. The clear trend is towards venues with their own kitchen and their own chef — spaces where the meal is part of the identity of the celebration, not an external service dropped in for the day.

  • 5. On-site accommodation

The ability to stay at — or steps from — the venue has become one of the most valued features in destination weddings. Boutique hotels and unique rooms within the property itself are shaping how couples and guests experience the full celebration.

Why are couples choosing less-known destinations over saturated venues?

Spain has always been a strong destination for weddings — the climate, the gastronomy, the accessibility from across Europe. But a clear shift is underway.

Couples are moving away from overbooked coastlines and venues hosting multiple weddings per weekend, and discovering regions that offer something more valuable: space, calm, and the certainty that your wedding is genuinely yours.

In Italy, ancient olive groves and rustic estates in Puglia and Tuscany are filling up fast. In Spain, the trend is reaching inland territories with wine heritage and natural landscapes that feel untouched.

The Valle del Tiétar, at the foot of the Sierra de Gredos and less than two hours from Madrid, is one of those regions. Its vineyards are centuries old, worked by hand, grown in granite soils. It belongs to the D.O.P. Cebreros denomination. And it doesn’t feel like a wedding factory.

What does a vineyard wedding at Huellas del Tiétar look like?

At Huellas del Tiétar we have built a place that aligns with exactly where weddings are going in 2027.

  • The vineyard

The celebration can take place surrounded by old vines, with the Sierra de Gredos as a natural backdrop. It is a setting that exists before and after your wedding, which is exactly what makes it feel real rather than staged.

  • The indoor salon

Our interior space is designed for long evenings. A salon with its own character — not a generic room dressed up for an event — where dinner unfolds at the pace of a celebration that has nowhere to be.

  • Our own restaurant and chef

Food is not handled by an external caterer at Huellas del Tiétar. Chef Jorge García — Maestro Asador de Castilla y León, with over 20 years of experience — leads a kitchen built around local, seasonal produce: our own artisan cheeses from La Quesería de María, Ávila beef on the Josper grill, and a menu that can be adapted for each couple.

The result is a wedding dinner that feels like it belongs to the place — because it does.

  • The boutique hotel in a centenarian olive grove

In autumn 2027, we will open our boutique hotel. A small number of rooms set within a centenarian olive grove on the estate — designed so that couples and guests can stay, wake up, and still be inside the landscape where the wedding happened the night before.

This is what the multi-day wedding experience looks like when the setting is right.

FAQ – Getting married in a vineyard in 2027

  • What is a vineyard wedding?

A vineyard wedding is a celebration held at a winery or vineyard estate, typically using the natural landscape — rows of vines, open skies, and the surrounding rural setting — as the backdrop for the ceremony and reception.

  • Why are vineyard weddings so popular in 2027?

Because couples are prioritising authenticity, intimacy, and experience over scale. Vineyards offer a setting with a natural atmosphere, a connection to food and wine culture, and a sense of place that generic venues cannot replicate.

  • Is Spain a good destination for a vineyard wedding?

Yes. Spain’s climate, gastronomy, and wine culture make it one of Europe’s strongest destinations for vineyard weddings. Regions like the Valle del Tiétar offer an additional advantage: they are far from the saturated wedding markets, offering exclusivity and a genuine sense of discovery for guests.

  • What is the best time of year for a vineyard wedding in Spain?

Spring (April–June) and early autumn (September–October) offer the ideal combination of mild temperatures, natural light, and the vineyard at its most alive. Autumn also coincides with harvest season, which adds a unique dimension to the setting.

  • How far in advance should we book a vineyard wedding venue?

For 2027 dates, most couples are booking 12 to 18 months in advance. Spring and early autumn weekends are the most sought after and fill up first.

  • Can guests stay on site at Huellas del Tiétar?

From autumn 2027, yes. Our boutique hotel — set within a centenarian olive grove on the estate — will allow couples and guests to stay on the property and extend the celebration across the full weekend.
